Jamshedpur, June 14: Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) is catering to the needs of the modern era by offering a specialized vocational program in ‘Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.’ The course focuses on the therapeutic application of nutrition as an integral part of holistic healthcare and medical programs. According to Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta, the prevalence of unhealthy lifestyles has led to various metabolic disorders, making this course highly relevant in current times. Its aim is to enhance scientific knowledge about disease prevention through improved lifestyle and dietary habits. Graduates of this course will gain the expertise to understand and recommend appropriate diets for individuals and groups, considering different contexts and locations. Additionally, they will be equipped to promote nutrition, sports activities, health, and welfare, thus becoming experts in their respective fields.
Jamshedpur Women’s University offers a full-time, three-year, semester-wise B.Sc Honors program in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics. Upon completion, students have a wide range of career opportunities to explore, including roles as clinical dieticians, sports nutritionists, public health nutritionists, nutrition educators, welfare consultants, personal nutritionists, dieticians in the food industry, educationists, and researchers.
To pursue a career in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, aspiring female students should have completed their 10+2 education with a Science stream. The eligibility criteria for this course require a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 Science (Biology/Maths, Physics, Chemistry).
The university provides various campus facilities to enhance the learning experience, including hostels, a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, a canteen, and WiFi connectivity. Students also benefit from regular interactions with professional dietitians, visits to hospitals and food service institutions, and internships at MGM Hospital. Graduates from the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics program have excellent placement opportunities. They are recruited as dieticians and nutritionists in renowned institutions such as TMH, Brahmanand Narayan Hrudayalaya, Life Line, Meditrina Hospital, UNICEF, Nestle, and other state hospitals.
