Dist Admn Warns Against Misleading Social Media Posts Ahead of Bakrid

Jamshedpur: The district administration has appealed to citizens not to circulate unverified or objectionable messages on social media platforms during the upcoming Bakrid festival, stressing that the public must maintain communal harmony and peace.

Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan chaired a Peace Committee meeting at the Town Hall in Sidhgora, where officials issued this appeal. Senior police and administrative officials, along with members of the Peace Committee, attended the meeting.

Administration Warns Against Rumor-Mongering

During the discussions, officials expressed concern over how users spread misleading information and rumours through social media, especially during festivals and sensitive occasions.

The administration urged residents to act responsibly online and avoid forwarding any content that could create tension or disturb public order.

SDM Appeals for Verification of Sensitive Information

SDM Dhalbhum Arnav Mishra appealed to citizens to verify all sensitive information through official sources before sharing it on digital platforms.

He urged people to ignore rumours and refrain from circulating unconfirmed news, stating that misinformation can adversely affect communal harmony and create unnecessary panic.

Strict Vigil During Festival Period

Officials stated that security forces will carry out special monitoring during the Bakrid festival to ensure peace and security across the district.

The police administration also warned that they would take strict action against individuals who spread rumours or post inflammatory content on social media.

Citizens Asked to Cooperate with Administration

The district administration appealed to all communities to celebrate the festival peacefully and extend full cooperation to maintain law and order.

Members of the Peace Committee also assured authorities that they would support a harmonious and peaceful observance of Bakrid throughout the district.
