Jamshedpur: Woman slits own throat over family dispute

Jamshedpur, March 5: One Rani Mukherjee of Jemco Mahanand Basti under Telco PS reportedly slit her throat following a tiff with her husband here on Saturday. She was taken to MGM Hospital where her condition was serious, sources said.

Sources said the victim took the extreme step after a heated debate with her husband on the issue of dancing at an orchestra. The woman had gone to an orchestra event in Baghmara, Potka, without informing her husband. Around 1 am, her husband called her to inform her about their two year-old son’s ill-health. Rani could not receive the phone. Next day when she reached home, her husband allegedly slapped her and shouted at her for being irresponsible towards her family, sources said.

Irked over her husband’s reaction, Rani slit her throat with a blade. She said she worked to support her family but did not get her husband’s support.
