Jamshedpur: Posing as cops, 2 cheats rob women of gold worth Rs 4.5 lakh in Sakchi

Jamshedpur, March 6: A lady, resident of Chandrabali Uddyan in Kasidih under Sakchi police station was robbed of her gold ornaments by cheats posing as policemen. The worth of the jewelry, the lady stated was in the vicinity of Rs 4.50 lakh.

The victim, Usha Devi stated that on Sunday morning, she went for her regular walk at the Baradwari Ground and was walking back towards her house in Chandrabali Uddyan at about 8:30 am.

The victim, Usha Devi said that a person came running to her just as she had entered the apartment gate and he said that she had been summoned by a police officer waiting just outside the gate.

When Usha Devi went up to him, she was told by the ‘police officer’ that snatching of gold ornaments had become an almost regular feature for which he had been put in charge of the area to thwart such attempts. Usha Devi said that she was asked by the ‘police officer’ to take off her jewelry which she did.

The fake police officer took her jewelry, tied them in a pouch and started walking away but by the time she realized that she had been robbed, she informed the Sakchi PS. The police team arrived and after taking details, started investigations. The police team was scanning the CCTV footage for clues related to the incident.
