Jamshedpur Pays Tribute to Icons Kiranmoyee Dey and Pritilata Waddedar

Jamshedpur: A tribute and remembrance ceremony was organised on Tuesday in Bistupur to mark the birth anniversaries of Kiranmoyee Dey, co-founder of Sreeleathers, and Pritilata Waddedar, one of India’s earliest women martyrs of the freedom struggle.

The event saw participants paying floral tributes and expressing deep respect for the remarkable contributions of both personalities. Speaking on the occasion, Shekhar Dey, partner of Sreeleathers Group and a social worker, said that May 5 is not just a date but a significant chapter in history that inspires values of struggle, sacrifice, and patriotism.

He highlighted the extraordinary courage displayed by Pritilata Waddedar in resisting British oppression and sacrificing her life for the nation’s freedom. He also noted that Sreeleathers continues to progress by following the ideals and vision of the late Kiranmoyee Dey, whose compassionate leadership helped shape the brand into a trusted and popular name both in India and abroad.

Emphasizing the importance of historical awareness, Dey remarked that the younger generation must understand and remember such sacrifices, as many vital chapters of history are often overlooked. “We must uphold our identity as Indians first-only then can the nation grow stronger,” he added.

Among those present at the event were Jyotsna Dey, President of Jamshedpur Mahila Samiti; Pujarini Dey of Sreeleathers Group; social worker Alpana Bhattacharya; Jharna Kar, Secretary of Jharkhand Bengali Samiti; Ashish Gupta, Joint Secretary of Nikhil Bangla Samiti; and P.K. Nandi, President of Netaji Vichar Manch, along with several other distinguished attendees.
