Jamshedpur weather: Lightning and thunder alert, rain for next 48 hours

Jamshedpur, June 24: Several parts of Kolhan can look forward to a good shower show for the next 48-hours owing to the impact of low pressure.

Weathermen at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over western parts of Bihar a low pressure area has formed over east Uttar Pradesh  and  its neighbourhood. An associated upper air cyclonic circulation  was also extending  upto 5.8 Kms above mean sea level.

” Rain and thundershowers are expected at many places over the state during the next two days due to the impact of the twin atmospheric circulations. Forecast of heavy rain  in isolated places was also issued for the next 48 hours,” said a senior official of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Met officials at  IMD’s Patna office said the conditions were favourable for rainfall activities across Jharkhand in the next few days. “The monsoon trough is stretched between Punjab and the east central Bay of Bengal over Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring Chhattisgarh. We are hopeful that the rainfall during the next few days will help reduce the deficit in Jharkhand,” said a duty officer at the  Patna Meteorological Centre.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre also issued an alert of moderate to heavy lightning and thunder in isolated pockets of Jharkhand during the next two days. Today’s satellite pictures showed a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand between 1.5 and 2.1 km above the mean sea level.

Weathermen today said that the rain spell will  be revived when the monsoon trough is properly reinstated. Today, the axis of monsoon trough  was passing through Jammu, Dehradun, Gaya, Purulia, Digha and  was stretched till the northwest Bay of Bengal. Last evening the monsoon trough was passing through state capital Ranchi.

The weather chart analysis at IMD’s Patna Meteorological Centre revealed that another cyclonic circulation was gradually developing over the Odisha coast.

A duty officer at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore, said that the fact that several places experienced rainfall during the past 24-hours indicated restoration of the monsoon trough.
