Jamshedpur, April 7: Rising mercury level is taking its toll on the wellbeing of citizens, especially students and office-goers. With the temperature reaching 42 degree Celsius, several instances of people falling sick due to hot weather are being reported from various corners of the three districts of Kolhan.
In Seraikela-Kharsawan, one Baghrai Tudu, a government primary school teacher of Kalapathar panchayat in Gamharia fell unconscious on Thursday. He was taken to the local hospital by his colleagues.
In another incident, a student of Upgraded Middle School, Kadma Bhatia Basti, fell sick due to the inclement weather. He fainted and also started vomiting. He was sent to hospital by the school management, sources said.
In a similar incident, a class IV student Miru Murmu of Primary School, Chholagora, Jamshedpur block 2, fainted due to hot weather. She came round after the teachers sprinkled cold water on her head and face, sources said.
In view of the hot weather, a considerable section of teachers and parents have demanded early school timings to make sure the students are not exposed longer in the hot sun.
