Jamshedpur Sports Committee Meeting: Plans for indoor stadiums, multi-sports complexes

Jamshedpur: The District Sports Management Committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal, was held at the Collectorate office to discuss the development of sports infrastructure and facilities in the district. The meeting was attended by ADM Law and Order  Aniket Sachan, District Sports Officer  Avinesh Tripathi, representatives from sports associations, and other invited members. Key discussions included the opening of new day-boarding training centers, appointment of trainers, and construction of sports facilities such as indoor stadiums and multi-sports stadiums.

Recommendations for athletics training at +2 Vidya Niketan High School, Potka, football training at Upgraded High School, Ghatshila, Narsinghgarh +2 High School, Dhalbhumgarh, and State Sponsored +2 High School, Patmda, and archery training at Giri Bharti High School, Haldipokhar, Potka, were reviewed. The District Magistrate directed the Sports Officer to collaborate with sports associations and identify locations for additional day-boarding centers across remaining blocks. Proposals for a roll ball training ground at CM School of Excellence, Burmamines, were also discussed, with instructions to secure an NOC from the District Education Officer.

The committee also emphasized constructing an indoor stadium at the district level, identifying one acre of land for the purpose, and developing a multi-purpose sports stadium in Chakulia, requiring eight acres. Proposals for sub-divisional level indoor stadiums were reviewed, with directions to submit site identification details. To address the increasing number of trainees in day-boarding centers, the District Magistrate proposed seeking departmental approval for appointing additional trainers.

The District Magistrate underlined the administration’s commitment to fostering a strong sports culture by enhancing existing facilities and introducing new infrastructure. The meeting concluded with directives to ensure timely follow-ups and collaboration among stakeholders to achieve the district’s sports development goals.
