Jamshedpur, May 10: The state-level training camp for the Jharkhand team ahead of the 76th Junior National Basketball Championship began on Saturday at KPS Kadma in Jamshedpur. The camp will continue till May 17 and is being organized by the Jharkhand Basketball Association.
A total of 40 players, including 20 boys and 20 girls, are participating in the week-long training camp. The final squad of 12 boys and 12 girls will be selected during the camp to represent Jharkhand at the national championship.
The 76th Junior National Basketball Championship is scheduled to be held in Pondicherry from May 22 to May 29. The selected Jharkhand team will leave for the tournament on May 17.
Honorary Secretary of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, J.P. Singh, is personally coaching the players during the camp. He is guiding the athletes on preparation strategies and motivating them to perform well at the national level.
Several officials and guests were present on the opening day of the camp, including Jharkhand Basketball Association President Harbhajan Singh, Treasurer Pradeep Mukherjee, Technical Head Arif Aftab, Executive Member Supriya Karan, social worker and Mango Municipal Corporation Brand Ambassador Mukhtar Alam Khan, and member Azhar Khan.
The association expressed confidence that the camp would help identify talented players and strengthen Jharkhand’s performance in the upcoming championship.
