Jamshedpur, May 10: The two-day 7th Father Gerald Martin D’Souza Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament 2026 concluded on a grand note at St. Mary’s English High School, Bistupur, on Sunday. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 18 schools across the city.
KPS Burmamines emerged as the champions after delivering an impressive performance throughout the tournament. KPS Kadma secured the runners-up position, while the host team, St. Mary’s English High School, finished third.
The closing ceremony was attended by Vice-Principal Sister Eliza Joseph as the chief guest and Administrator Sister Anjani Mala Toppo as the guest of honour. Both appreciated the players for displaying excellent sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork during the competition.
In the individual category, Jaspreet Singh was awarded the Best Scorer title, while Uday Nair was declared the Best Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance on the court.
Addressing the gathering, Sister Eliza Joseph thanked the participating schools, coaches, team managers, and guests for making the event successful. She encouraged the young players to continue working hard and wished them success in their future sporting careers.
The tournament was conducted under the leadership of Sports Teacher and Basketball Coach Sajjad Ahmed Khan along with senior sports instructors Karan Kumar, Vijay Prasad, Sarail Kujur, and Deepika Indira.
Teachers, parents, sports lovers, and guests were present in large numbers during the closing ceremony, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
