Jamshedpur, May 6: A Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) team, under the directives of the Special Officer, carried out a drive against encroachers in Sakchi Market. Shopkeepers who had kept their wares beyond their shop space thereby blocking the Sakchi Market roads and footpaths, were fined and warned against such repetitions of encroachment. An amount of Rs 12,700 was collected as fines from such erring shopkeepers. The JNAC team included City Manager Anay Raj, and field workers Keshav Prasad, Shivcharan, Ganesh Yogesh and other JNAC employees.

The JNAC act is only symbolic and primarily aimed at small time vendors. The major problem is the encroachme t by permanent shopkeepers who block the major portio of the road during the entire working hours.
