White House Dinner Shooter: California Man Cole Tomas Allen

Washington (IANS): Federal investigators have identified the suspect in the shooting near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California. Allen was apprehended after attempting to breach a high-security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

The Breach: Meters from the Ballroom

According to law enforcement officials, Allen was intercepted near a magnetometer screening area just meters away from the ballroom where President Donald Trump and hundreds of guests were gathered. Armed with multiple weapons, the suspect attempted to push past security before being tackled by officers. During the struggle, Allen fired several rounds inside the hotel complex before being subdued.

While the suspect did not gain entry to the main event, the incident resulted in a Secret Service officer being struck in his bullet-resistant vest. Officials confirm the officer is expected to recover, and no other injuries have been reported.

Investigation into “Lone Wolf” Motive

President Trump, who described the attacker as a “sick person,” indicated that early evidence suggests Allen acted alone. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that federal agencies are currently:

  • Executing Search Warrants: Reviewing Allen’s residence in California and his digital footprint.
  • Analyzing Ballistics: Examining recovered weapons and materials from the scene.
  • Reviewing Security Lapses: Investigating how the suspect approached a highly secured perimeter with multiple firearms.

Legal Consequences

Allen faces a barrage of federal charges, including illegal possession of firearms and offenses related to the shooting. Prosecutors signalled that the case could expand to include attempted murder and assault on a federal officer as the investigation into his ideological or personal motivations develops.

“There will be multiple charges… anything else that we can get on this guy,” stated Acting AG Todd Blanche, emphasizing that the federal investigation has only just begun.
