Jamshedpur: In a move to highlight the persistent issue of passenger train delays, the Rail Yatri Sangharsh Samiti launched a signature campaign at Tatanagar Railway Station on Sunday morning, drawing participation from commuters and local leaders.
The campaign saw active involvement of MLA Jamshedpur West Saryu Roy, who personally joined the initiative and interacted with passengers. The railway administration facilitated the drive by designating a spot near the main entrance of the station, where a whiteboard was installed for collecting signatures. Notably, the same location had earlier witnessed a sit-in protest led by the MLA on April 7.

Organizers said the campaign began at 9:30 AM, with volunteers approaching passengers arriving from various destinations. Commuters were asked to share their travel experiences, particularly focusing on delays, unscheduled stoppages, and reasons provided during their journey.
Shivshankar Singh, Convener of the Rail Yatri Sangharsh Samiti, along with Subodh Srivastava, East Singhbhum District President of Janata Dal (United), and Ajay Kumar, Metropolitan President, stated that the campaign aims to systematically document passenger grievances and present them before railway authorities.
Passengers are being provided with leaflets containing specific questions regarding train delays and stoppages. To ensure wider participation, the organizers also introduced a digital option, with a QR code printed on the leaflets allowing commuters to submit their feedback and join the campaign online.
Around 15 volunteers were actively engaged at the station, distributing leaflets and encouraging passengers to participate. In total, 10 such groups have been formed to carry out the campaign effectively.
The organizers expressed hope that the collected feedback would strengthen their demand for improved punctuality and accountability in railway operations, a long-standing concern for daily passengers in the region.
