Jamshedpur, June 27: Despite have come under direct control of the state government, sale and purchase of shops is reportedly on in the city markets. According to sources, a shop in a prominent city market place has been recently sold to a jeweler for Rs 2.5 crore. Just one year ago, the shop was purchased by a noted builder for Rs 5 lakh from a cobbler.
As per government rules, the sale and purchase of shops situated in the marketplace is prohibited since the shops belong to the government, sources said.
Sources further claimed that several shops are being run by persons other than their rightful allottees. Buyers and sellers are engaging in huge transactions on the basis of agreements without registration, thereby dealing a blow to the state coffer, sources said.
