Jamshedpur: Shivling removed from Kharkai riverbank

Jamshedpur, Jan 19: Ruckus was witnessed on the bank of Kharkai river at Bistupur on Thursday during the removal of a Shivling installed in front of Hindupeeth.

Tata Steel UISL officials removed the Shivling from its place amidst protest by BJP leaders and supporters in the presence of police.

District administration officials gave consent to the removal of Shivling during a meeting held earlier. ADM Nand Kishore Lal, SP City K Vijay Shankar, JNAC officials, BJP leaders and members of Hindupeeth committee were present at the meeting.

The Shivling was shifted to the Hindupeeth campus. The protestors eventually called back the agitation.

BJP protests against Shivling removal

Jamshedpur, Jan 19: BJP leaders and Hindu outfit members protested the removal of Shivling from the vacant land situated near Hindupeeth on the banks of River Kharkai at Bistupur on Thursday. They put up protest at the site and refused to buzz. Armed police personnel were deployed to keep peace near the Hindupeeth. DSP Animesh Gupta reached the venue and tried to pacify the agitators. BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar president Gunjan Yadav, AJSU leader Chandragupt Singh and many others were present during the commotion. District administration officials tried to speak to the agitators and settle the matter.
