Jamshedpur, May 31: A delegation of residents of Mango met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav on Tuesday and demanded a high-level probe into the recent incident of fire in a tyre godown near National Highway 33.

The residents expressed serious concern over the fire safety of various residential complexes and colonies in Mango. They said the tyre godown fire incident looked suspicious prima facie and hence called for a thorough investigation. They said the district administration should conduct a detailed investigation to go deeper into the cause of the incident. They claimed that short circuit was most probably not the reason behind the fire mishap. The fire could have been started deliberately with the view to make insurance claim, said the residents.

The residents further said that the lives of thousands of people were jeopardized due to the tyre godown owner. They said the district administration should ensure that the truth comes out and the culprits are punished adequately. They also demanded compensation for the families who suffered due to the mishap.

The delegation members included Ishwar Singh, Bhavani Singh and Gopal Singh.
