Ranchi (IANS): The Ranchi Police dismantled a drug trafficking network operating in the Hindpiri area on Tuesday. The operation led to the arrest of six individuals, including a woman, and the recovery of over ₹8.8 lakh in cash alongside a significant haul of banned substances.
The Operation: A Strategic Cordon
Acting on intelligence regarding large-scale drug trading near Bacha Kabristan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) formed a specialized raiding team led by ASP (Kotwali) Nikhil Rai. The team comprised officers from Hindpiri, Kotwali, Daily Market, Lower Bazaar, and the Women’s Police Station.
As the team moved in, suspects attempted to escape through the narrow lanes of Khet Mohalla. However, police personnel successfully cordoned off the area, apprehending five men after a brief chase:

The Recovery: Cash, Injections, and Brown Sugar
Following the initial arrests, interrogation led police to the residence of Shehnaz Khatoon near Nadi Ground. A search of her house yielded a massive stash of cash and drug paraphernalia. The total seizures from the operation include:

Cash: ₹8,81,242

Brown Sugar: 6.8 grams

Ganja: 310 grams

Medical Narcotics: Two cartons of narcotic injections and four strips of banned tablets.

Equipment: An electronic weighing machine used for measuring doses.
Judicial Custody and Further Probe
The arrested individuals, hailing from various localities including Karbala Chowk and Kadru, were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody on Tuesday. Ranchi Police are currently investigating the syndicate’s wider links to identify the primary suppliers fueling the drug trade in the capital.
