Jamshedpur resident Vivek Chaudhary receives extortion threat via WhatsApp

Jamshedpur: A case of extortion has been registered at Sakchi police station after Vivek Chaudhary, a resident of Thakurbari Road, alleged that unknown individuals abused him on WhatsApp and demanded Rs 50,000.

According to the complaint, the threats were issued between 7:45 am and 7:48 am on August 26. Vivek submitted a four-minute audio recording to the police containing abusive language and threats. He has specifically named mobile numbers 9142301824 (Sunny Agarwal) and 8777541524, along with other unknown persons, as those involved.

The complainant stated that the accused repeatedly threatened him with dire consequences if the money was not paid. Police have registered a case and are currently tracking the location and identity of the mobile number holders.

Investigators are also probing whether the extortion attempt was linked to a prior dispute or was an independent criminal act. Officials said the matter is being investigated from multiple angles, including motive, relationship between the accused and the complainant, and the reason behind the ransom demand.

The police emphasized that the complete picture will emerge only after a detailed inquiry.
