Jamshedpur: Panic and tension gripped the Sopodera area under Parsudih police station limits on Saturday after the body of a minor girl was recovered from the premises of a government middle school. The incident has triggered outrage among local residents, who suspect rape and murder.
According to reports, the body was found inside the campus of Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Sopodera, during the morning hours. The matter came to light when Anganwadi worker Sulekha Shandilya reached the school premises and noticed the girl lying unconscious. Upon closer inspection, she found the girl dead and immediately informed local villagers and police authorities.
Soon after receiving information, a team from Parsudih police station reached the spot and began investigation. The body was later sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The identity of the deceased girl had not been established till the filing of the report. Police are reportedly verifying records of missing girls from nearby police station areas and examining all possible angles related to the incident.
The shocking recovery led to anger among local residents and panchayat representatives, who demanded immediate arrest of those responsible and stronger security arrangements in the area.
