27 Trains Cancelled Across Jharkhand Till November

Jamshedpur/Ranchi: Railway passengers in Jharkhand are set to face significant travel disruptions as 27 trains operating through the region will remain cancelled on various dates starting May 9 until November 2026. The mass cancellations are a result of essential development work, including traffic and power blocks, scheduled at Chakradharpur Division, Bilaspur Division, and Muri Station.

According to railway officials, the infrastructure upgrades are aimed at improving long-term operational efficiency. Seven trains departing from the Ranchi Division were already impacted as of Friday. Key cancellations include the Hatia-Adityapur-Hatia Express, Hatia-Kharagpur-Hatia Express, and the Ranchi-Kharagpur-Ranchi Express. Additionally, several MEMU services, such as the Bokaro Steel City-Ranchi and Hatia-Sanki routes, have been suspended.

Long-term Impact on Major Routes

The cancellations extend deep into the year for several long-distance services:

  • Hyderabad-Raxaul Express (via Ranchi): Cancelled from July 2 to November 12.
  • Raxaul-Hyderabad Express: Cancelled from July 5 to November 15.
  • Tatanagar-Hatia-Tatanagar Express: Scheduled for cancellation on specific dates throughout July, August, September, October, and up to mid-November.
  • Hatia-Jharsuguda-Hatia MEMU: This service will be suspended on numerous scheduled dates between July and November 17.

Weather Adds to Rail Woes

The announcement comes amidst immediate weather-related delays. On Friday, strong winds caused a tree to fall onto the tracks on the Ranchi-Muri down section. This incident forced several trains, including the Garib Rath, Maurya Express, and Dhanbad Intercity, to halt at various stations for over an hour. Ranchi DRM Karunanidhi Singh confirmed that services resumed only after the tracks were cleared by evening.

Passengers are advised to check the latest train status via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or official railway helplines before planning their journeys during this six-month maintenance window.
