Jamshedpur, April 8: Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Golmuri Vijaynagar, was defrauded of Rs 2,43,278 by cybercriminals who lured him under the pretext of deducting the yearly charge of his ICICI Bank credit card. The incident occurred on April 2, around 12 noon, prompting Rakesh Kumar to file an FIR against unknown perpetrators at the Bistupur Cyber Police Station.

The fraudulent scheme initiated with a call originating from mobile number 9905983106. According to Rakesh, the caller claimed to be a representative of ICICI Bank and informed him about the impending deduction of yearly charges from his credit card. To facilitate this process, the caller instructed Rakesh to delete two points from the Manage Card portal, assuring him that his task would be completed thereafter.

Notably, these transactions occurred without requiring an OTP (One-Time Password), with amounts of Rs 80,990, Rs 99,399, and Rs 62,889 deducted successively.
