Meeting with District Election Officer emphasizes adherence to Code of Conduct
Jamshedpur: A pivotal meeting convened by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal with representatives of political parties underscored the imperative of obtaining prior permission for all events and publicity initiatives.
The gathering, held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, witnessed the presence of key officials including Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, PD ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary, and ADM (SOR) Mahendra Kumar, along with other distinguished guests.
Mittal reiterated the collective responsibility of ensuring a fair and peaceful electoral process by adhering to the guidelines laid out by the Election Commission of India. He urged participants to be vigilant of their responsibilities to prevent any allegations and uphold the integrity of the voting process.
Highlighting the ongoing ‘Vote Mahotsav’ from April 7 to 9, Mittal urged cooperation in assisting new voters to fill Form 6 and raising awareness about exercising their voting rights to bolster voter turnout.
Moreover, Mittal emphasized that no permission would be granted for the promotion of political symbols, candidates’ names, or slogans on mobile vehicles such as water tankers and ambulances. He also urged political parties to disseminate information about changed booth names to ensure a smooth voting process.
Furthermore, Mittal briefed attendees on the facilities provided by the Election Commission through various apps such as Suvidha App, Saksham App, and C Vigil App for obtaining permissions, reporting violations of the Model Code of Conduct, and facilitating the elderly and differently-abled voters.
In conclusion,Mittal stressed the necessity of pre-certification for all promotional materials across print, electronic, and online mediums to maintain transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all parties to uphold the principles of democracy.
