Jamshedpur, Aug 10: All post offices of Kolhan remained shut in view of the nationwide strike observed by the postal department employees here on Wednesday. Around five lakh postal employees were on strike today against privatization of postal department.

In Jamshedpur, postal employees observed strike under the banner of All India Postal Employees Union. According to Chandi Charan Sadhu, divisional secretary of the union, “Central government is planning to hand over the postal department to private entities. This would directly affect 5.5 lakh postal employees across the country. People would lose their trust in post offices. Public money is safe here so far. But this will not be the case after privatization. If the Centre does not concede to our demands, postal services would be completely stalled.”
