Jamshedpur, Feb 19: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy Saturday raised doubts over the veracity of yesterday’s Sakchi gold loot incident. He claimed it could be a case of fraud committed by the hallmarking centre staff who had told police about the Rs 10 lakh loot.
Roy made the suspicion public after meeting Kuldeep Singh, owner of Deep Jewelers, whose gold ornaments were looted in the incident. He also saw the CCTV footage of the entire incident.
“On seeing the footage, it appears that the hallmarking centre staff who were carrying the jewelry may be associated with the looters,” said the MLA.
Condemning the law and order situation of city, Roy said, “It is worth find out if the hallmarking agency has kept security arrangements in place or not. Also, it should be found out whether the agency has got any insurance cover or not.”
Roy said criminals were making hay by taking advantage of police slackness made evident by irregular patrolling in the marketplaces. He said he would meet the Jharkhand DGP and inform him about the deplorable law and order situation in the city.
Roy’s trade representative Akash Saha shared his mobile number with local traders. He asked them to contact him in case of emergency.
Others present on the occasion included Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce patron Harvinder Singh Mantu, BJM president Subodh Srivastava, Shankar Mittal, Rajesh Jha, Vikas Gupta, Amit Sharma, Anil Choudhary, Naveen Kumar, Varun Singh and Raghvendra Pratap Singh.
