Jamshedpur, Aug 1: A young woman identified as Sumitra Pramanik, a resident of Baridih and currently staying at a PG in Bistupur while working at a mall, jumped into the river from the Dobbo Bridge at Domuhani under Sonari police station area on Friday morning. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after an argument with her boyfriend over a phone call.

Sumitra’s friend Alisha, who was with her at the time, said, “We were out riding a scooter and stopped at the Dobbo Bridge. She was on the phone with her boyfriend when a heated argument began. Suddenly, without saying anything, she jumped into the river.”

Following the incident, a crowd of bystanders gathered at the spot. Sonari police were informed immediately and arrived to begin a search operation with the help of local fishermen and divers.

However, due to continuous rainfall in Jamshedpur, the river’s strong current is hampering rescue efforts. As of reporting, the woman remains untraced. Police are investigating the incident and working to determine whether it was a case of suicide or an accident.
