Jamshedpur, Aug 30: The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, eagerly awaited by the denizens, will begin tomorrow. One could see idols of Ganesh decked up in colourful pandals.Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that is celebrated in almost each and every household of Jamshedpur with great devotion and faith.

Lord Ganesha, is believed to bestow good luck and remove the obstacles from the life of an individual. Ganesh Chaturthi Festival falls on the 4th day of Bhadrava Shukla-Paksh which falls on August 31. People were seen busy in the last minute preparations. Artisans are giving the final touch to the Ganesha idols, Pandals are being decorated with glittering lights, flowers etc.Lord Ganesha is considered to be the god of wisdom, prosperity and good luck.

The city gears up for the preparations of Ganesh Chaturthi. Markets were flooded with Ganesha idols, decorative materials and special sweets for the festival. Traders, shopkeepers are doing brisk business during this season.The district police nonetheless, have made tight security arrangements for the smooth running of the two week long affair with security personnel being deployed in adequate numbers and policemen in plain clothes keeping an eye on the revelers.
Great unity, pomp and show seen on the same platform on Ganesh Chaturthi, only in India,’ said Sonakshi Kishore. Pandals have registered themselves for the festival and many of the societies have come forward for the occasion.
This is the time to celebrate the festival with great pomp and show. People install Ganesha idols in their homes with a wish to bring prosperity and happiness to their families. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with a belief that Ganesh–the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati-bestows his blessings to their devotees.
‘It is an amazing festival to celebrate, I wish to see Mumbai’s Ganesh Chaturthi’, said Surbhi Sharma, student of Delhi University.
Meanwhile, the president of Shree Bala Ganapati Vilas, the organisation which has been organising Ganesh puja for several decades in success, K J Rao, informed that this year the two week long puja will witness better arrangements for the mela enthusiasts.
Every year thousands of people from across the city and adjoining areas participate in the event. The Ganesh puja of Kamda is one of the oldest and most revered pujas in the State. Every year large numbers of devotees visit the place and seek blessings from lord Ganesha. Priests from Andhra Pradesh would perform the religious ceremonies.
