Jamshedpur : The dry and crisp north-westerly wind will continue to dominate over Jharkhand in the next few days and so will the chill and cold wave conditions, said weathermen today. ” Favourable winter conditions have been prevailing over Jharkhand. Night temperatures are expected to remain below normal by 3-4°C in another 72 hours or so with cold wave conditions in isolated pockets. Jharkhand’s weather in another three to four days, a weather scientist based at IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre. Officials at the IMD headquarters in New Delhi said that the entire central and north-west India is in the grip of a cold wave. “Severe cold wave conditions ( when minimum temperature records a fall of six degrees or more below normal) was also prevailing at some places. As the north-westerly wind is blowing from the colder region it is also impacting weather conditions of Jharkhand and Bihar,” explained an IMD official at New Delhi . The official said that Jharkhand will continue to witness cold waves in pockets in the next three to four days.
The Celsius slid in most parts of the state today, increasing the chill, thanks to the revival of free flow of north wind. Weathermen today said that the crisp north wind made a comeback and that it will result in plummeting night readings in the next few days.
” The chill-laden winds from north got revived as the impact of western disturbance waned. The minimum temperatures will plummet in most parts of Jharkhand in the next 48-hours or so,” said a senior weather official at IMD’s Patna Meteorological Centre. He, however, ruled out the possibility of a cold wave condition, when minimum readings go five notches below normal.
Weathermen at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that winter is at its peak and that the climate across Jharkhand will remain dry for the next 72-hours. ” Dry weather is most likely to prevail in Jharkhand in the next three days. This will result in a further drop in minimum readings,” said , a senior official at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
