Jamshedpur DC orders crackdown against illegal miners

Jamshedpur, March 16: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav ordered strict action against illegal miners across the district here on Wednesday. She directed district mining officials to conduct surprise raids against illegal mining, transportation and storage.

Jadhav was addressing a meeting of the district mining task force at Jamshedpur Collectorate office. She said illegal mining of minerals and sand should be prevented at every cost. The mining task force members should ensure coordination among themselves for effective action against the culprits, she said.

Jadhav reviewed the environmental clearance taken by small and big mining lease holders, licence-holders and brick kiln owners across East Singhbhum. She said all illegal mining sites should be identified and stringent action should be ensured against them.

The DC directed the district mining task force members to take action against overloading of heavy vehicles carrying sand and minerals. She said the internal information network should be strengthened to detect illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals. She also ordered action against those availing electricity in an unauthorized manner.
