Jamshedpur, April 21: Cases of cyber frauds continue to multiply at a faster pace. By the time the plight of one victim is reported, two or more cases of Cyber ‘magic’ occur. The latest incident reported was that of Vijay Pathak, a resident of Gamharia. Eighty three thousand Rupees were cleaned against his two credit cards of SBI and ICICI bank. And the withdrawals were not reported on his mobile device.
Vijay Pathak, the victim of online cyber fraud, had filed written information/complaint of the incident in Adityapur police station. He said that he had two different credit cards issued by SBI and ICICI Bank, from which, on April 5, a transaction of Rs 55,000 was done from his SBI account without his knowledge, while with ICICI Bank credit card Rs 28,000 was debited. Pathak informed that neither of the two credit cards were used by him and nor were any message or OTP been received by him of the transactions. Vijay Pathak has registered a written complaint on the twin frauds and demanded investigation in the matter.
In another case of cyber fraud, a message was received by Jaiprakash Uddyan resident Vinay Kumar singh on his mobile phone, that the Tata Steel UISL (JUSCO) would cut his power connection immediately due to arrear in his bill payment and to avoid it he was instructed vide the message, to do a recharge of Rs 10 on the number provided in the message. Vinay Singh was asked to download an app, Quick Sport which he did. He sent Rs 10 in the app account provided and no sooner had he fallen into the trap, his account was cleaned of Rs 25, 929.
Similarly, cyber thugs cheated Rs 1.49 lakh from 65 year old Shailendra Narayan Acharya, a resident of Nishant Bihar Colony in Adityapur police station area. The victim filed a written complaint on Thursday in the Adityapur police station. The police have started investigating the matter and are trying to get to the bottom of this cyber attack with the assistance of the technical cell. The victim, Shailendra Narayan Acharya said that a message had been received on his mobile phone on Wednesday stating that the balance in his account was low and replied to queries mentioned on his mobile notification. Acharya has an account with the HDFC bank’s Adityapur branch.
