Jamshedpur Crime: Man arrested for killing maternal uncle in Kowali

Jamshedpur, July 12: Kowali police here arrested a man for allegedly killing his maternal uncle over a land dispute.

The arrested man was identified as Hemant Patra, a resident of Bada Bhalki under Kowali police station area.

According to SP (Rural) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, police had recovered the body of the deceased, identified as Neelkant Patra, from Jamda Nala area of Bada Bhalki on 10^th July last.

“The accused killed his maternal uncle over property dispute. The maternal grandfather of the accused had promised to give some land to the latter for building his house. Neelkant was against it and he had asked his father not to give any land to the accused. Enraged over this, Hemant one day took Neelkant out for a drink and killed him with a sharp weapon. After killing his maternal uncle, the accused threw his body in the drain. Later, the body was found in the drain,” he said.

Neelkant was reported missing on 8^th July last by his family members. A team was formed by DSP Chandrashekhar Azad to probe the killing, said the SP.
