Jamshedpur, July 12: BJP state spokesperson Kunal Sarangi met Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Deoghar on Tuesday and demanded aviation services in Jamshedpur. He said the Union Aviation Ministry should take the initiative to ensure air connectivity to the people of Jamshedpur by starting aviation services with small aircrafts.
Sarangi handed a memorandum to the Union Minister besides presenting him a Shivling and angavastra on his arrival in Jharkhand. He said air connectivity was a must to ensure speedy development of the city. He said the city was devoid of aviation facility despite being the industrial capital of Jharkhand. He said companies like Kingfisher and MDLR ran commercial flights from Sonari Airport till 2009. Despite growth in business, the services were discontinued, he said.
According to Sarangi, commercial flights could be started from the Sonari Airport for the time being till a bigger airport is built in Jamshedpur. Air connectivity would boost trade and commerce in the city, he said.
Sarangi said Scindia has assured him of taking initiative with regard to his demand for starting flight services with small aircrafts to provide connectivity to people of the region, especially businessmen and students.
