Jamshedpur, Sep 20: City police arrested eight members of a gang of thieves responsible for the series of house burglaries committed in Sidhgora recently.
Those arrested include a woman, identified as Man Kumari Devi of Zone No 6, Birsanagar, and a scrap yard owner, Dharmendra Kumar, of Vidyapati Nagar, Sidhgora, sources said.
According to SP rural, Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, “The gang had engaged several minors for committing thefts in local households. The minor members used to enter locked houses and commit thefts with the help of the adult members. As a practice four minors would enter the target house while two others would keep a watch outside the house.”
“The accused persons were involved in six thefts committed in various localities of Sidhgora in the recent past,” added the SP.
Police recovered gold ornaments, camera, tab, mobile phone, silver coins, laptop and silver statues of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh from the gang members. Three of the thefts committed by the gang were not reported to police, said the SP.
