Jamshedpur: Couple hurt in road accident dies during treatment, CRPF ASI arrested

Jamshedpur, March 7:  Giri Sardar and Surajmani Sardar, the couple who were injured in a bike and car accident at Kadamdih Morh under Sundernagar police station, died while under treatment at TMH on Sunday night. CRPF ASI Chandan Kumar Singh who was driving the car that hit the Sardar couple’s motorcycle, was released by the police from the police station late in the night but after the news of the couple’s death Sundernagar Police arrested CRPF ASI Chandan Kumar Singh on Monday.

After the accident on Sunday, local people thrashed the CRPF jawan before the Sundernagar police rescued him. Chandan Kumar Singh admitted during query that he was intoxicated while driving home after attending a picnic. The locals were simmering with anger because of the accident. Their ire was magnified when they came to know of RPF Jawan Chandan Kumar Singh’s release from the police station. The news of Giri Sardar and his spouse Surajmani’s death death could be the fuel in the fire of the villagers’ anger.

It may be mentioned that the CRPF ASI, Chandan Singh was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Giri Sardar, a resident of Rajdoha, was returning from Sakchi with his wife Surajmani Sardar on a motorcycle while the the CRPF ASI who admitted to be under the influence of alcohol,  was driving towards Sundernagar from Narwa. The accident occurred at Kadamdih Morh. After the accident angry local people roughed up the CRPF Jawan.

Reports stated that the Sundernagar police took long to reach the site of the accident. After the accident, Sundernagar police recovered liquor bottles and other items while searching inside the car.
