Jamshedpur, July 22: While the process of admission is going on in other educational institutions, there is a crisis regarding enrollment in the only government law college under Kolhan University for the session 2023-26 at Jamshedpur Cooperative College.
The reason is that the period of one year recognition of the Co-operative Law College from the Bar Council of India (BCI) has been completed and the Council has not yet given recognition for the new session.
However, for this the college administration had applied to the council in December last year itself. Nearly seven months are about to pass, yet no response has been received from the BCI. Because of this, the admission process for the new session in the college has not started yet. In this regard, the Kolhan University administration says that as soon as they get recognition from the Bar Council of India, they will start the admission process. It may be noted that the college has a total of 120 LLB seats.
Last year also the college somehow got recognition from the Bar Council of India. Because of this the nomination process started in November and is still going on. The students whose studies and examinations should have been completed by now for two semesters, their admission is still going on. Admission is to be done on 120 seats, but so far only 70 students have taken admission. Still 50 seats are vacant. There is now a preparation to release the third merit list for enrollment on this.
Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Principal of Co-operative Law College, said that a letter has been written to the Bar Council of India in December itself for extension of recognition of the college, but so far neither a team has come for inspection nor has received any letter from there. We hope that their reply will come by August. It is also expected that we will get recognition for this session.
