Jamshedpur, Dec 24: Congressmen gathered in large numbers for the Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman March, organized under the leadership of East Singhbhum District Congress President Anand Bihari Dubey. The event, held at the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar near the old court, was attended by former Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, who was the chief guest. The participants paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, and the march was led by Dubey and Balmuchu.

The march turned into a protest when Congress workers reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office, raising slogans like, “Sack Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” “Narendra Modi leave the throne,” “Shame on the mentality of BJP,” and “Amit Shah apologize.” The demonstrators condemned the recent remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha, which they claimed insulted Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy.

Dr. Balmuchu, addressing the crowd, said, “The remarks made by the Union Minister inside the Rajya Sabha have hurt the sentiments of millions who regard Dr. Ambedkar as a symbol of equality and justice. These remarks insult the heritage of our Constitution maker.” District President Dubey echoed these sentiments, criticizing the registration of a false FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress leaders called for the resignation of Amit Shah and demanded that the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, take immediate action on the matter. A memorandum was submitted to the East Singhbhum District Collector, urging the Government of India to address the issue and expose the BJP’s alleged strategy to suppress dissent. The Congress reaffirmed its commitment to Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy of justice and equality. (w/nkm)
