Jamshedpur, June 20: The transformation of Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College, the only government law college under Kolhan University, has gathered momentum with a high-powered committee outlining an ambitious roadmap to develop the institution into a model “Gurukul” of legal education.
A crucial meeting of the university-constituted High Power Committee was held in the Principal’s chamber under the chairmanship of Rajesh Kumar Shukla, Syndicate and Senate Member of Kolhan University and Chairman of the Committee. The panel deliberated on a series of academic and administrative reforms aimed at elevating the college’s standards and ensuring compliance with the norms of the Bar Council of India.
Given the institution’s unique status as the lone government law college in the region, special emphasis was placed on infrastructure development and quality enhancement. Following the meeting, the committee, led by Shukla, inspected the under-construction college building and expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of the ongoing work.
Among the key decisions taken were measures to address the shortage of faculty members to ensure uninterrupted academic sessions and timely examinations. The committee also approved plans for the development of a modern library, a dedicated moot court facility, and improved staff rooms to strengthen academic resources.
To enhance campus discipline and security, the committee resolved to further strengthen CCTV surveillance and promote better coordination between students, faculty members and the administration.
The members also welcomed the Bar Council of India’s approval for affiliation of the 2026–29 academic session and urged the university administration to conduct the law entrance examination at the earliest so that admissions and classes can commence on schedule.
The meeting was attended by Kolhan University Proctor Dr Rajendra Bharti, Senate Member Lakhan Mardi, Jamshedpur Co-operative College Principal Dr Krishna Pyare, University Law Cell Coordinator Dr Sanjeev Kumar Biruli, and Law College Principal Dr Jitendra Kumar, among others.
