Jamshedpur, June 20: Alleging police inaction in a violent land dispute case, former Panchayat Samiti member Raymuni Mardi of Palashbani village under MGM police station area on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), seeking strict action against the accused and protection for her family.
In her complaint, Mardi stated that a long-standing dispute over her raiyati land turned violent when, allegedly at the instigation of Hadiram Mardi alias Chaitan Mardi, a group comprising Kamal Mardi, Sangita Mardi, Sona Mardi and Chuntu Mardi alias Viku Mardi assaulted her and her brother-in-law.
She claimed that the attackers launched a life-threatening assault and struck her on the head with an axe, causing serious injuries, while her brother-in-law was also severely beaten.
According to the complainant, she approached MGM police station on June 18 to lodge a complaint. However, despite waiting for several hours, no satisfactory action was taken on her allegations. Frustrated by the lack of progress, she appealed to senior police officials for intervention.
Mardi, who previously served as a Panchayat Samiti member and is associated with educational and social development initiatives supported by Rotary Club Jamshedpur, urged the SSP to ensure an impartial investigation and initiate legal proceedings against the accused. Police officials have indicated that the matter is under inquiry.
