Jamshedpur boy wins high jump gold at NIDJAM

Jamshedpur, Feb 11: Himanshu of Tata Steel Athletics Training Centre clinched gold medal in the National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM), the national federation’s flagship grassroots talent search programme, held at Patna from February 9-12.

Student of Vivek Vidyalaya, Govindpur, Himanshu represented East Singhbhum district in the championship and won the top prize in High Jump event.

Son of Dharmender Singh, this is Himanshu’s second gold medal in the National Championship.

His coach Sanjeev Kumar expressed delight at the performance of Himanshu and hopes he continues to improve his skills.

“The hard work was done by Himanshu, he has always been hardworking and sincere towards his game. I hope he wins more medals in future tournaments,” added Sanjeev.

Coach stated that High Performance Centre team of Tata Steel, Hemant and Mukul supported the high jumper a lot in improving his performance

It is worth mentioning that a total of 5482 athletes from 599 districts across the country participated in the national meet.
