The Railway Protection Force rescued two minor boys at Shalimar Railway Station on November 4. Personnel conducted a special checking drive to prevent potential child trafficking.
RPF officers noticed the boys on Platform No. 1 around noon. The children, aged 14 and 16, exhibited suspicious behavior during routine patrol.
Officers questioned the teenagers to verify their identities. The boys admitted that they fled their homes in West Bengal’s Dakshin Dinajpur district without informing their parents.
They planned to board the Charlapalli-Amrit Bharat Express traveling to Samalkot. The minors intended to seek employment opportunities in the new region.
Recognizing the severe risks facing the young boys, RPF officers intervened immediately. Personnel secured the children to protect them from potential exploitation and trafficking.
Officers brought both boys to the Shalimar RPF Post. They completed all necessary administrative protocols and safety checks at the station.
The RPF subsequently transferred the minors to child welfare authorities. Official bodies will now arrange proper care, shelter, and family reunification process.
This successful operation underscores the vigilance of the RPF Kharagpur Division. Continuous patrol efforts help officers intercept vulnerable runaway children across major railway transit hubs.
