Jamshedpur, Sept 7: The alarming situation created by the rising graph of Dengue infection has put the district administration in high alert mode. East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner, Manjunath Bhajantri’s directives to plug all sources of Dengue and Chikungunya infections have resulted in all municipal bodies up in arms to control the spread of the twin diseases.
Anti-larval spraying is being conducted to eradicate dengue larvae. Cleanliness drives have been launched in public places, institutions and residential colonies. Fogging is being done in all municipal command areas covering the entire city and fringe areas to curb mosquito borne diseases effectively.
Task force teams are conducting house-to-house inspections including surrounding areas where dengue positive cases have been detected. In spite of warnings, if dengue larvae are being discovered in homes, offices, shops and other institutions, penalties are being levied on offenders. Bleaching powder is being sprayed on stagnant water bodies that are otherwise favourable breeding grounds for mosquitos.
The DC has emphasized on the importance of making citizens aware about the preventive measures against dengue and various steps have been initiated in this direction. The Deputy Commissioner, Manjunath Bhajantri has issued public advisory urging citizens not to allow water to accumulate in coolers, containers, tires, bottles and other discarded objects. People have been advised to wear long sleeved clothing and use mosquito nets. People experiencing any symptom akin to dengue infection have been advised to visit the nearest health care centres for medical opinion and aid.
