Jamshedpur Administration all set for counting exercise, parties engross in guesswork

Jamshedpur: With just a few days left for the election counting exercise, the district administration seems all set for the D-day.

Moreover, political parties are eagerly waiting for the future of their party contestants with Tuesday being the D-day for counting of votes. The counting exercise would begin at 8 am. The trend of the counting would be clear by 10 am.

The administration has trained about 300 supporting staff, observers and micro-observers to ensure proper exercise. The counting for six constituencies in the district, Baharagora, Ghatshila, Potka,

Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West and Jugsalai would take place at Jamshedpur Co-operative College.

Proper security arrangements have been made at the strong room.  The party agents have been instructed to get into the counting centre before 7.30 a.m. and their movements would be restricted.

Strict orders have been issued for the counting personnel not to carry mobile sets and other electronic gadgets inside the strong room.

Ananya Mittal, DEO, East Singhbhum, said that no person other than candidates, their election/ counting agents, public servants on election duty or persons authorised by Election Commission would be permitted to enter counting centres,

The Jugsalai Assembly seat will witness a maximum 23 rounds of counting since there were 318 booths in the area while Baharagora will see a minimum 16 rounds since 225 booths.

About the arrangements for counting and security measures taken by the authorities, the returning officer said that tight security was in place at the counting centre to avoid any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, contestants and their supporters are fully engrossed in the guesswork as to their political fortunes which remain sealed in the EVMs stashed inside strong rooms at college campus under the shadow of guns.

“It is really difficult to predict the outcome of the results but going by the support we received from the voters we are confident that the saffron brigade will rule tomorrow,” said Anil Modi, spokesperson, district BJP.

Section 144 is in effect across the district to maintain law and order. June 04 will be a dry day, with all government-licensed liquor shops closed and stringent monitoring to prevent illegal liquor sales. Legal actions will be enforced to uphold this regulation.

The comprehensive preparations and strict protocols set by the District Election Officer aim to ensure that the vote counting process for the Lok Sabha General Election 2024 is conducted smoothly, transparently, and fairly.
