Jamshedpur, June 1: On Saturday, Jharkhand, including Kolhan, experienced intense heat and humidity, leaving residents in discomfort. However, around 5:30 pm, a sudden downpour in Jamshedpur and nearby areas brought much-needed relief to the populace.

The sweltering conditions saw Daltonganj registering the highest temperature at a scorching 45.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Saraikela at 41.1 degrees. Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, West Singhbhum recorded a temperature of 39.8 degrees Celsius, Baharagora at 36.8 degrees Celsius, and Ranchi at 38.4 degrees Celsius.
Despite the heatwave persisting in Garhwa, Palamu, and Daltonganj, some areas in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Chatra, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, and Ramgarh experienced drizzles and heavy rainfall.

An alert has been issued for Sunday in various districts, including Ranchi, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Bokaro, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Simdega, Pakur, Jamtara, Dhanbad, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, warning of thunder and lightning with wind speeds expected to reach 40-50 km per hour. Residents are advised to stay indoors during adverse weather conditions and avoid standing under trees or near electric poles during lightning.
