Jamshedpur, Sept. 23: In a major breakthrough a 45-year-old man Srikanth Kumar was arrested today for allegedly duping people of over Rs 1 crores at Sonari .
A resident of Kumharpara in Sonari, Kumar had borrowed money from as many as six local residents by following different ways, including friendly loan and `chit-fund’ amount, but did not return the money.
On taking congnizance of the complaint, the court of first class judicial magistrate Archana Kumari instructed the Sonari police station to institute a case against Kumar.
Officer-in-charge, Sonari thana Anuj Kumar arrested the accused from his house past midnight.
“As per the instructions we arrested Kumar as he had allegedly duped local residents of over Rs 1 crore. We had registered a case under Sections 420 and 506 of the IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by Vinay Kumar Dubey, one of the victims. We arrested Kumar today,” said the OC, Sonari.
According to police, Kumar had an eatery at the Gudri Bazaar in Sonari but after started running `chit-fund’ business, he had accumulated public money.
“We are digging more information about him. During interrogation we have found that there are several others who have lost money in the hand of Kumar, but as the latter is an influential person, they did not open their mouth,” said the OC.
