Hindustan Petroleum official assaulted at Jamshedpur, hospitalized

Jamshedpur, April 19: Manish Kumar Singh, Senior Manager of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), was reportedly injured in an attack by a group of 200-300 unidentified people. He has been admitted to MGM Hospital, police said.

According to cops, the HPCL manager, who is posted in Ranchi, has lodged a police complaint against unidentified assailants for pelting stones at his Nilgiri Colony residence in Mango late Monday night.

Singh reached Mango police station this morning and narrated the late night incident. He said his family members were also assaulted in the incident. He has sought police protection.

Police officials said the entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed at the victim’s residence. They said they were trying to identify the culprits.

Singh told cops he had a tiff with members of a marriage procession in the alley leading to his house. “I returned home late night and found a vehicle parked in the middle of the narrow alley near my house. I asked the baraatis to remove the vehicle to give me way. They got irked and together assaulted me at my house,” police officials quoted Singh as saying.

Cops said they were verifying the allegations.
