Jamshedpur, July 4: The Rotaract Club of Karim City College, in collaboration with the college’s Women’s Cell, organized a health and hygiene awareness program titled “Building a Healthy Future” at Central Karimia High School (Intermediate Section – Arts and Science). The event aimed to break the silence around menstrual hygiene, distribute sanitary napkins and engage with the community.

Dr. Kausar Tasneem, coordinator of the Women’s Cell, conducted a detailed session on health and menstrual hygiene. Highlighting the alarming rates of anaemia among Indian women, she emphasized the need to educate girls on proper nutrition and physical activity to maintain good health.

Student representatives from the Rotaract Club and Women’s Cell — Zareen Abedi, Afsana Khatun, Farhat, Priyanka, Ritika, Saniya Akhtar and Sujata — led a highly interactive session addressing myths and taboos surrounding menstruation. The session also introduced eco-friendly menstrual products to promote sustainable practices.

Organizers and resource contributors for the event included P. Ashish Kumar and Ayush Pathak. The program successfully benefited 72 students, providing them with both awareness and access to hygienic resources.
