AJSU, BJP Leaders Acquitted in 2019 Telco Shiksha Prasar Kendra Case

Jamshedpur: The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Bishwanath Oraon acquitted BJP leader Ankit Anand and AJSU leader Abhay Narayan Tiwari, alias Appu Tiwari, of all charges in the 2019 Telco Shiksha Prasar Kendra dispute.

On February 4, 2019, Ruth Perkins, the complainant, filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Telco police station, alleging that Ankit Anand, Appu Tiwari, and others forced their way into the Shiksha Prasar Kendra office, behaved aggressively, threatened her, and ordered her to leave the premises. Following an investigation, the Telco police claimed the allegations were true and filed a chargesheet in court.

However, during the trial, all three prosecution witnesses backtracked on their previous statements. During cross-examination, complainant Ruth Perkins said in court that she did not know the accused. She also stated that the accused had not caused any such incident and that she no longer wished to pursue the case.

In its judgment, the court ruled that the prosecution failed to present reliable evidence and was “completely unsuccessful” in proving the allegations. Advocate Amit Tiwari represented BJP leader Ankit Anand and AJSU leader Appu Tiwari.

Following the court’s order, Ankit Anand said that he had faith in the judiciary from the very beginning, and ultimately, truth prevailed. AJSU leader Appu Tiwari remarked that the Shiksha Prasar Kendra stands completely exposed. He added that the case shows how the local Telco police station registers fabricated cases and files charge sheets against innocent people.
