Jamshedpur, August 24: Gulmohur High School on August 24, hosted the 5th CISCE Bihar and Jharkhand Regional Yoga Competition at the Tata Auditorium. This notable event saw participation from 112 children across various schools, competing in the Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19 categories for both girls and boys. Schools from Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bhagalpur, and Patna were represented, with Jamshedpur Zone emerging as the winner in all categories.
The top performers from this competition will advance to the national level, competing in the Artistic and Rhythmic Yoga competition scheduled for October 2nd to 5th at Dayanand Public School, Jamshedpur.
Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Chief Consultant and HOD of Medicine at Tata Motors Hospital, Jamshedpur, served as the Chief Guest. He praised the participants for their dedication to Yoga, a discipline India has gifted to the world. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Bipin Pandey, Secretary of the Yogasana Sports Association of Jharkhand, and Mrs. Sudha Jha, President of the East Singhbhum District Yogasana Sports Association.
Noteworthy was the performance by Tiyasha Pangiyara of Class XII, an accomplished Yoga athlete with numerous zonal, state, and national championships to her name. Her elegant display captivated the audience, and she also administered the Sportsman’s Oath.
A significant innovation for this event was the online tabulation of scores using Google Sheets. The competition was coordinated by Moloy Kumar De, Secretary and Technical Manager of the Yoga Sports Organization in East Singhbhum District. The judging panel featured esteemed figures from the sports field.
Principal Priti Sinha recognized the event coordinator and judges with appreciation certificates and also acknowledged the teachers who accompanied students from various schools. Special praise was given to sports teachers Ekbal Singh, Sangeeta Herenz, and Shiwani Kumari for their efficient management of the event.
