Sewerage Leakage in Sonari Sparks Health Concerns

Jamshedpur: Residents of West Layout, Road No. 9 in Sonari have raised an alarm over sewage water overflowing onto the main road, directly in front of the Bharat Sevashram School. The local community brought the issue to the attention of Mukul Mishra, the public utility representative for Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy.

Health Hazard for Schoolchildren and Residents

Local residents informed Mishra that the sewerage line, originally constructed by Tata Steel, has been leaking for several days, leading to foul-smelling water stagnating on the streets. The situation has become a major concern for parents, as hundreds of students passing the Bharat Sevashram School are forced to navigate the contaminated water daily.

The leakage is also affecting morning and evening walkers heading to the nearby Joggers Park, as well as local residents, who fear the outbreak of waterborne diseases.

Call for Immediate Action

After inspecting the site and listening to the grievances of the public, Mukul Mishra contacted the General Manager of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL). Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Mishra urged the management to repair the leakage immediately to ensure public safety and hygiene.

To expedite the process, Mishra shared photographic and video evidence of the overflowing sewer with TSUISL General Manager RK Singh.
