Jamshedpur: Taking a tough stance on administrative lapses within the Education Department, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajiv Ranjan issued show-cause notices to seven Block Project Officers (BPOs) during a monthly review meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium. The DC also ordered that their salaries be withheld until textbook distribution reaches satisfactory levels.
Crackdown on Slow Textbook Distribution
The DC expressed strong displeasure after finding that textbook distribution in Boram, Dhalbhumgarh, Dumaria, Ghatshila, Gudabandha, Musabani, and Patamda remained below 90%.
- Deadline: All blocks must achieve 100% distribution within the next 48 hours.
- Objective: To ensure students have all necessary materials before schools reopen after the summer vacation.
Relaunch of ‘Sikui-Dikui’ Campaign
The district administration will relaunch the ‘Sikui-Dikui’ initiative immediately following the summer break. Under this campaign, district and block-level officers adopt government schools to personally monitor teaching quality and attendance. The DC emphasized that the program must move beyond simple inspections to produce “visible improvements in learning outcomes.”
Focus on Board Results and Merit
Reviewing the recent Matric and Intermediate results, the DC directed officials to:
- Prepare a comprehensive action plan for the next academic session.
- Provide focused support for weaker students and ensure timely syllabus completion.
- Felicitation: The district will formally recognize meritorious students from Classes 10 and 12, as well as teachers and schools that showed significant year-on-year improvement.
Infrastructure and Welfare Directives
- Residential Schools: Officials have 10 days to fix shortcomings in sanitation, drinking water, and safety identified during recent hostel inspections.
- BPL Admissions: The DC ordered that the admission process for the BPL quota in private schools be finalized during the summer vacation to ensure no reserved seats remain vacant.
- APAAR ID & e-Vidyavahini: Instructions were issued to speed up APAAR ID generation by counselling parents and to ensure 100% daily attendance updates on the e-Vidyavahini portal.
- Mid-Day Meals: The DC mandated strict adherence to government-prescribed menus and quality standards.
