Jamshedpur, Feb 3. Ajoy Kumar, a permanent invitee of Congress Working Committee and former MP of Jamshedpur, has written a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemat Soren saying that the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare has directed that a separate business license for selling tobacco products would be issued.
It is mandatory that toffees, candy, biscuits, tea, cold drinks or any kind of food and beverage cannot be sold in shops where tobacco products are sold. Such an amended law would attack the livelihood of small retailers selling tobacco products. Ajoy Kumar said that the condition of small retailers is bad due to the lockdown and business restrictions imposed due to Corona virus and the subsequent deterioration of the economic situation and any further adverse policy will destabilize their business and this latest attack will be disastrous.
Presently there are around 10 lakh small retailers selling tobacco products in Jharkhand and such a strict law will definitely affect their livelihood.
